Yob, J Dilla Sessions, Why Don’t American Cities Burn?

I interviewed Mike Scheidt of Portland metal band Yob. The band is opening for Tool at Susquehanna Bank Center in Philadelphia this weekend (a helluva venue change from Kung Fu Necktie, which is where I saw them play last year). I wrote a feature for Philadelphia Weekly.

Why Don’t American Cities Burn? is a book written by a Penn history prof who addresses the question, Why don’t American cities burn? The author talks at Grindcore House TONIGHT, and I wrote about it for PW’s calendar.

Also, for the calendar, I wrote about LP Stiles’ J Dilla tribute this Friday at World Cafe. Along with a host of MCs, the band will play tunes by the LEGENDARY hip-hop producer.
